Getting started
What is Numo? Is it legitimate?
Numo is a data contribution app. You complete photo and video tasks from everyday life with your phone and earn points for submissions that pass review. The videos help AI learn how people move and perform tasks step by step.
Numo is operated by Poseidon. Cash payouts are processed by Dots and gift cards by Tremendous, both established payout providers. You can read our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy in the app.
Who can join? Which phones are supported?
No special qualifications or experience are needed. Any iPhone or Android phone that can install the Numo app works. Some tasks require recording equipment such as a head mount, so check each task's instructions.
Numo is an ongoing service, not a limited-time event. The types and number of tasks change based on our data collection needs.
The app asks for an invite code. What if I don't have one?
You don't need an invite code. Tap Skip at the bottom of the invite code screen.
If a code you received shows an error, enter only the letters and numbers without the dash (-). The message "You can't use your own code" can also appear when you and the person who invited you are registered in different countries. Invite codes can only be entered during sign-up, not afterwards.
What do I get for inviting friends?
When a friend signs up with your invite code and their first task is approved, you receive an invite bonus. The amount depends on your country. The friend who was invited does not receive a separate bonus.
In some countries, you also earn extra milestone bonuses as more of your invited friends complete their first task. Invites only work between accounts in the same country. If an invite looks suspicious, the bonus may be held for review.
I don't see any tasks on the Home screen.
This usually has one of three causes:
- Your app is out of date. Update Numo from the App Store or Google Play, then fully close and reopen the app.
- Tasks are still being prepared for your country. Tasks for recently added countries are expected by the end of September. Turn on push notifications under Profile > Settings to be notified when they arrive.
- Your account country doesn't match where you live. Contact support with your actual country of residence.
Are there voice or audio recording tasks?
The tasks currently open in the app are video and photo tasks. Voice tasks are not offered continuously, and the voice tasks from the former Numo Web (such as Tamil or Telugu recordings) do not continue in the app. Task types change with our data collection needs, and we will notify you in the app when voice tasks open.
How do I change the app language?
Open the Profile tab (the person icon at the far right of the bottom menu), tap your profile card at the top, select the globe icon, and choose your language.
Recording
Which mount should I use? Are neck or chest mounts OK?
We recommend a head mount. It follows your line of sight, keeps both hands and the activity in frame, and gets approved more often.
Neck and chest mounts are not automatically rejected. Videos can still be approved if both hands and the full activity stay visible and the guidelines are followed. Watch out when you turn your head or reach up high, as your hands can easily leave the frame.
Can I get reimbursed for buying a mount?
Yes. Once you have 60 minutes of approved recordings, you can submit your receipt from the equipment reimbursement banner on the Home screen. You'll be reimbursed in points up to a limit that depends on your country; the app shows the limit for your account.
Screenshots of online orders and paper receipts from local stores are both accepted. Make sure the store, purchase date, item, and amount paid are visible. Receipts for items other than a POV mount, or where the amount can't be verified, will be rejected.
How should I set up my phone for recording?
- Mount your phone horizontally (landscape).
- Keep both hands and the activity visible throughout the recording.
- Use an ultra-wide zoom below 1×. If your phone doesn't offer 0.5×, choose its widest option, such as 0.6×.
- Record in 720p or higher. HD (720p), FHD (1080p), and UHD all qualify. For a recorded video, check that the resolution in its file details is at least 1280×720.
Can I wear rubber or latex gloves?
Yes. Just make sure both hands and the activity remain clearly visible.
Can I do the same task more than once, or record in the same place?
Yes to both, as long as each video is a new recording of a separate, complete activity. For example, you can submit folding towels and folding socks as separate videos.
Don't re-upload a video you already submitted, and don't split one long recording into several submissions.
How many videos can I upload per day?
Some tasks have daily submission limits to prevent abuse and unusually high-volume submissions. However, the limits are sufficient for uploading videos of normal, everyday activities such as cooking, cleaning, and organizing. Submission counts reset daily at midnight Korea Standard Time (15:00 UTC). Auto Upload has no submission limit, and resubmitting a rejected video does not count toward the daily limit.
The activity is too short to reach the minimum recording time (10 minutes).
AI needs a long, continuous sequence of actions to learn from, so tasks have a minimum recording time. If one activity is too short, naturally continue with related work in the same video:
- Repot several plants, or tidy several shelves of a bookcase
- Brush two pets one after the other and clean their ears
- Move laundry to the dryer, then hang the rest on a drying rack
- When cooking, include washing and chopping ingredients through cleaning up
Repeating the same motion to fill time, or recording a still scene after you finish, may lead to rejection.
Do I need to narrate what I'm doing?
No. Just record the activity naturally. Tasks don't require specific tools or methods either; for example, you can use a handheld steamer instead of an ironing board.
Do I have to record in the app, or can I upload an existing video?
Both work. Tap Start Recording in a task to record directly, or record with your phone's camera and tap Upload in the task to choose the video from your gallery. Recording with the phone camera keeps the original in your gallery even if an upload fails.
Why do videos get rejected?
- Hands or the activity aren't clearly visible
- Recorded in portrait, or not from a first-person view
- A different activity than the task, or long periods without meaningful activity
- Shorter than the minimum recording time
- Edited videos (cuts, merged clips, subtitles, filters, speed changes, etc.)
- Duplicate or downloaded videos, or videos recorded by someone else
- Faces (including reflections in mirrors or glass), IDs, or other personal information
Edited videos can't be approved even if you recorded them yourself. If something goes wrong while recording, record again instead of editing. You can see the rejection reason in your submission history.
Uploads & app issues
The app closes or recording stops on its own.
- Update Numo to the latest version.
- Turn off Low Power Mode or Battery Saver, and disable battery optimization for Numo.
- Allow camera, microphone, and photo access.
- Make sure you have enough storage and battery.
If it keeps happening, record with your phone's camera and upload the video from your gallery in the task.
My upload gets stuck or says "Upload failed".
- Update Numo, then fully close and reopen the app.
- Free up storage on your phone. Low storage can make uploads fail regardless of the error message.
- Use a stable connection such as Wi-Fi, and keep the app open with the screen on until the upload finishes.
- Don't delete the original video or reinstall the app until you've confirmed the upload succeeded.
If it still fails, send support a screen recording from the start of the upload until the error appears.
It says my new video was "already submitted".
This usually means a previously submitted file was selected by mistake. Check that you picked the right file from your gallery. If you're sure it's a new video, send us a screenshot.
I submitted a video to the wrong task. Can I change it?
You can't move a submitted video to another task yourself. If you still have the original video, contact support. We'll reject the existing submission so you can upload the same video to the correct task.
Can I delete videos from my phone after I receive points?
Yes. Once a video has been reviewed and the points credited, deleting it from your phone doesn't affect your submission or points.
Review & points
How long does review take? A video from today was approved before one from yesterday.
Regular tasks are usually reviewed within a few hours, and most within a day and a half. Auto Upload receives a much larger volume, so it usually takes about 2 days and can take more than a week.
Several reviewers work at the same time and some submissions are reviewed automatically, so reviews don't always finish in upload order.
"In review" does not mean rejected. You don't need to upload again, and you can keep doing other tasks while you wait.
How does Auto Upload work, and why is its review slower?
Connecting your gallery for the first time gives a one-time bonus per device; the amount depends on your country. After that, each photo and video sent through Auto Upload is reviewed individually, and only approved files earn points.
Auto Upload receives far more files than regular tasks, so reviews take longer. Only original photos and videos you took yourself are eligible. Screenshots, downloaded images, and duplicates are rejected and may lead to account restrictions.
How much is 1 point worth?
Point values depend on your account's country. The Redeem screen shows your points together with their value in your local currency. Examples:
| Country | 1 point |
|---|---|
| India | ₹0.10 |
| Philippines | ₱0.01 |
| Indonesia | Rp1 |
| Vietnam | ₫1 |
| Pakistan | ₨0.01 |
| Saudi Arabia | SAR 0.01 |
| Germany, Spain, France, Italy | €0.01 |
| United States | $0.01 |
| Other countries | $0.001 |
I'm getting fewer points per video than before.
Videos uploaded during a bonus event earn the event reward; after the event ends, rewards return to the standard amount. If you uploaded during an event but received only the standard reward, contact support with the submission details.
Several videos were approved, but I only received points for some of them.
Points have occasionally been missed when videos were uploaded back to back. Contact support with the submission date, task name, and number of videos, and we'll credit any missing points.
Where can I see my total approved recording time?
The app doesn't show this yet. Contact support if you'd like to know your total.
Payouts
What is the minimum withdrawal amount?
The minimum depends on your account's country and is set at around US$50 in most countries. Your exact minimum is shown on the Redeem screen. The minimum covers payout processing costs and helps prevent abuse, so we can't make exceptions for individual accounts.

How can I receive my rewards?
- Cash: bank account, PayPal, and other methods available in your country (processed by Dots)
- Gift cards: redeem on the Rewards tab (processed by Tremendous)
What do I need before my first withdrawal?
You only need to set up these once:
- Verify your phone number
- Add a payout method
- Submit your tax information
You can keep completing tasks and earning points before setting up payouts. For security reasons, support can't enter bank or personal details for you.
How long does a withdrawal take?
You'll receive your payout within 3 business days of requesting it. Every request goes through an internal review before it is sent to your payout method. Weekends and holidays don't count as business days. If you haven't received it after 3 business days, contact support.
My withdrawal failed.
- PayPal: the email you entered must belong to an active PayPal account. You can enter an email without a PayPal account, but the payout will fail.
- Bank account: the account holder's name must match the name registered in Numo.
You can cancel a request yourself before it is approved. Correct your details and request again, or choose another method.
I'm not receiving the SMS verification code during payout setup.
- Update Numo to the latest version.
- Check that the country code is correct, that it isn't entered twice, and that your number has no missing or extra digits.
- Wait a few minutes before requesting a new code.
If the code still doesn't arrive, send support a screen recording of the process. Never share the code itself.
Do I need a US address?
No. Enter the address where you currently live. If the address screen turns blank, update the app and try again, and send a screen recording if it continues.
Can I receive payouts to a family member's account?
No. Your phone verification and name must match, so register payout details in the name of the Numo account holder.
Are there withdrawal fees?
Gift cards have no fees. Your points are exchanged for a gift card of the same value. Cash withdrawals may include a fee depending on the payout method.
I didn't receive my gift card email.
- On the Rewards tab, open the redemption and tap Open gift card to resend the link.
- Check your spam, promotions, and trash folders, and search your inbox for the sender.
- If you signed in with Apple and use Hide My Email, make sure email forwarding is turned on in your Apple ID settings. Emails to hidden addresses have failed to arrive in some cases.
- If the link asks you to verify, tap Send link.
Taxes
Is tax deducted from my withdrawal? Do I need to file taxes?
Numo does not deduct tax from your withdrawal and does not report your income to tax authorities on your behalf. If you received less than you requested, the difference comes from payout method fees or exchange rates.
Whether you need to report this income depends on your country's rules and your situation. Please check with your local tax authority or a tax professional.
The W-8BEN form shows a 10% (or 30%) withholding rate. Will that be deducted?
No. The W-8BEN registers you as a recipient living outside the United States, and the rate shown is only the treaty rate that could apply. It isn't deducted from your withdrawal, and submitting it is not a US tax filing.
Do I need to submit tax information even if I earn very little?
Yes. Poseidon, which operates Numo, is a US company, so our payout provider requires tax information before any cash payout, regardless of the amount. Submitting it doesn't by itself create a tax filing obligation. Never enter false information or someone else's details.
What should I enter as my Tax Identification Number (TIN)?
Enter the tax ID issued by your country of residence. For example, use your PAN in India. If the form asks for something that doesn't exist in your country, don't make it up; send support a screenshot with personal details hidden.
Can I get a statement of my earnings?
Your payouts are listed in the app and in your payout provider's history. If you need a separate payment document, contact support and we'll check whether it can be issued.
Account
I selected the wrong country when signing up.
Contact support with your sign-up email and the country where you actually live. Point values, tasks, and payout methods differ by country, so your account country must match where you live. New submissions may be paused briefly while we verify this; it is not a penalty. After the change, your points stay the same but their value is shown in your country's currency.
Why was my account blocked?
Accounts are restricted when we find violations of our Rewards Policy, such as downloaded content or content recorded by someone else, edited videos, screenshots, duplicate submissions, or multiple accounts created to collect invite bonuses. If you believe this is a mistake, contact support with your sign-up email and we'll review your account.
Can I use more than one account?
Uploading the same photos or videos to multiple accounts is prohibited and can lead to suspension and cancellation of the related rewards.
I can't sign in with Google.
If you originally signed up with email, Google sign-in won't connect to that account even with the same address. Choose email sign-in and use your original email and password, or reset your password if you've forgotten it.
Can I change my sign-up email?
An existing account's email can't be changed directly. Create a new account with the new email and contact support; we'll move your points and history to it. You'll need to set up your payout details again on the new account.
I deleted my account by mistake. Can I recover my points?
Send us as much as you can about the old account: email, sign-in method, User ID, and screenshots of your balance. We'll review whether it can be recovered or transferred, but recovery can't be guaranteed.
Where can I find my User ID?
It's on your profile card at the top of the Profile tab. You can also tap the card and open Edit Profile. Including your User ID or sign-up email helps us find your account faster.
Is there phone support?
No. Please contact us through Support in the app. Screenshots or screen recordings help us resolve issues faster.
